Handyman

Toronto, ON.

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Residential Handyman to work for a highly reputable builder/developer in Toronto, and perform a variety of repair and maintenance tasks in residential properties. The ideal candidate will have experience in multiple trades, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, and general repairs, with a strong focus on quality craftsmanship and attention to detail. The Handyman will be responsible for ensuring that homes remain in good working condition and that all repairs are carried out efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform a wide range of repairs, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general home maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot and fix minor HVAC issues, including thermostat malfunctions and filter replacements.
  • Inspect properties to identify areas for maintenance or repairs, reporting any major issues to the property owner or manager.
  • Assemble fixtures, and appliances as needed.
  • Paint and touch up interior and exterior surfaces.
  • Repair or replace broken windows, doors, locks, and hinges.
  • Handle small drywall repairs and patchwork.
  • Maintain landscaping or outdoor fixtures (basic lawn care, fixing fences, etc.).
  • Conduct preventive maintenance tasks, such as inspecting appliances, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
  • Respond to emergency maintenance requests promptly.
  • Work with property managers and homeowners to schedule and prioritize tasks.
  • Maintain an inventory of tools and equipment, ensuring everything is in good working order.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a handyman or in a relevant field (electrician, plumber, carpenter, etc.).
  • Proficiency in using a variety of tools and equipment.
  • Strong working knowledge of home maintenance and repair techniques.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues independently.
  • Basic understanding of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to manage time efficiently and prioritize tasks.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects and work in various weather conditions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications in relevant trades (e.g., plumbing, electrical).
  • Previous experience working in residential settings.
  • Familiarity with local building codes and safety regulations.
